The Devil is in the Details (& Doorknobs Apparently)

Our doors arrive today. We had to order new doors for every single door in the house as we had these lovely hollow wood things going on:p-closet-doors

I know – you’re jealous (especially with that stunning Pergo [gag] floor they picked to compliment those awesome doors).

So our doors arrive today and I am needing to pick new door knobs which is HARD ya’ll. Like I have literally been to 20 different websites and cannot for the life of me decide which ones I want, so I am ordering three (for now) and will decide once they get here and put them on different doors and walk through them and stare at them and hope that one of them jumps out at me. (And no, I’m not kidding…this is literally what I will do for a week until I just KNOW which one is right).

new-doorsHere are the new doors we selected and I can’t wait to see them in person. We tore out all of the old wood trim and are redoing that to match. Even though these are white doors, I love the 5 panel design and think they are going to look great. My initial thought was to go chrome on everything BUT Drew ordered the door with oil-rubbed bronze hinges, so it looks like that is what we are doing. We are going more toward the contemporary side with this house just to match the exterior vibe but I also want a house that can sell relatively easy in 2-3 years if that ends up happening.

So, that being said, here are my three door knob choices (for now):

I love the ones with the square panels, but I don’t know about the sizing of those panels with our doors. I’ll post pics in a few days with one of each and you can get an even better feel.

(With that kind of effort going into doorknobs, you can only imagine how long our full kitchen redesign is going to take! Ha. So far, I have 1 detail secured and that’s it – I will have a navy blue peninsula in said kitchen. Other than that, the design is wide open (but I did get to see the cabinet design this week and aside from almost costing half of my entire house budget, I have more cabinet space in the new house than in the current one which I didn’t even think was possible). I. Cannot. Wait.)

So, which doorknobs do YOU like? I would love some input.

  1. Love the 5 panel door. Knowing you are going to be selling I would go with the most cost effective and put the money saved into kitchen and master bathroom – the areas that sell the home. Choosing one door knob over the other won’t sell the home any faster or for more money but having soft close drawers, for example, in your kitchen is a feature to be touted!!!
